I was so excited to come across what I thought was a new gadget this morning. Jason was working in the nursery, and I just HAD to ask him if he’d ever seen the iPad case that allows it to function like a DVD player in the car. It straps itself conveniently to the back of the front seat–you know, for the kiddos, or for the adult with a short attention span in the backseat. I thought for sure I’d found something Apple related that Jason had never seen before; at least, he’d never mentioned it. Sure enough though, J was familiar with the device. He usually is.
I’m definitely not the gadget guru in this house.
We did end up having a great conversation about the versatility and ultimately, the practicality of an iPad, so I didn’t totally feel like I’d been hiding under a rock by the end of the conversation. If it begins with an “i” though, let’s face it. I should just know better by now. I do love this about Jason. He’s reliable for lots of great reasons, and one of them is definitely his knowledge of all things technological. Truly, it’s a blessing.
This relates to life these days because J has applied his insatiable appetite for information when it comes to baby things as well. I realized how grateful I am for this when we were showing baby’s things to Grandma T, Great-Grandma Donna and Daniel tonight. Jason has researched and carefully suggested strollers and car seats, bassinets and cribs throughout this entire process. We’ve made decisions together, and I’ve not once ventured into a baby superstore or registered for a single baby item without him. Baby gadgets? It’s safe to say that Mr. Kehrer has the market cornered on all of this new information as well.
If you asked him, he’d be modest about all of this head knowledge, but the truth is, he soaks it all up because wants to make the best decisions–whether for baby or for any number of other big choices. Safety ratings? Reviews? Stats? Pros and Cons? Jason is a veritable treasure trove of helpful, decision-making facts. This certainly makes life easier for me when I’m more interested in picking out a fashion-forward diaper bag or fabrics for the nursery. And truthfully, Jason is equally as supportive when it comes to those choices as well, so he’s just about the best partner ever for this whole process. I love being in this together and prepping for baby with the assurance that we’ll make the most conscientious choices we can as parents.
And, even if we don’t get it right all the time, we’ll sure have given it our best shot. There’s no denying all of the love we have for this little one–right down to the nursery wall color and the gadgets he or she will ride in, sleep in, sit in, play in and be cuddled in as soon late-April/early-May rolls around.
Tonight, here’s to gadgets, and to the man I married who loves them. I hope that Baby K likes gadgets, too. Between them, I’ll never worry that I’m out of the loop–and they’ll be adorable sitting side by side with their iPads in hand 🙂
loving my husband and the things that make him, well…him.
