I love this time of year! For me, it is filled with so much hope and promise for good things to come. Today, with the sun shining and the birds chirping, it’s hard not to flash forward to longer walks and sunsets and ice cream and days at the beach. Spring/Summer living near the lake can be the most uplifting thing–there’s always something to do within 5 minutes of home, and it often costs less than a song.
I can’t wait to take the little one to JP’s for coffee and to sit outside under a shady tree, watching the afternoon sky roll along. I long for weekends in parks and down sidewalks and over sandy dunes as a family; every Saturday bringing the Farmer’s Market, fresh produce, great fellowship and bouquets of brightly-colored flowers for the dining room table. I think about beach umbrellas and itty bitty sunglasses and teensy weensy swim trunks or the cutest little ruffly swim suit, and I know that our days on the beach this summer (although shorter) will be some of our best yet.
The grass is getting green and buds are sprouting on trees. It’s light past dinnertime, neighbors are peeking out from hibernation and flowers are begging to be planted soon. We may not have seen our very last snowfall of the season just yet, but Spring is only five days away on the official calendar, and I couldn’t be happier!
flip flops here i come!
