…at the waist. This is my new M.O. as of this weekend. No longer a matter of, “I can, but it hurts,” it is now infeasible for me to bend over. Wow. What an awesome feeling. Our little baby is making him or herself known in a big way. Folding at the hips makes for one cranky child around here, so I’m forfeiting my right. I now roll, ease, slide, shimmy and slink toward the couch, bed, a pair of shoes, the dog–and anything else knee level or below.
I’m only one of billions of women who have ever undergone this transition, but that doesn’t change how weird a sensation it is to have lost a whole lot of mobility and physical freedom. I’m being very humbled these days, and needing help with just about everything.
It’s probably time for a belly pic here, and tomorrow or the next day, I’ll post photos of the nursery in its complete state. We’ll consider it a two-for-one deal, how about that? The car seat is officially in the car as of today, and tonight we’re firming up our birth preferences to chat about with the doctor tomorrow. Lists are ready, bags are ready, nursery awaits a tiny babe. It’s only a matter of time! It feels so good to be getting there, with 20 days (give or take a bit) to go. An Easter baby would be fun, or a Palm Sunday baby, or a just-your-old-average-weekday-in-April baby. You can’t bet we’ll no longer consider the day average if that happens!
In the meantime, I’m here leaning and such.

p.s. To all of the moms who have undergone or will undergo Summer pregnancies, my hat is off to you in the grandest fashion. One taste of an 80+ degree day today at 37 weeks, and I completely bow to your sacrifice!

Ahhh, limitations. Now you can get some rest. PS. I have a funny summer pregnancy story to share someday. But definitely not here. Twouldn’t do…. 😉
