Just before midnight last night, I was feeding Henry and getting ready to snuggle in for what I hoped would be two or three hours of sleep. Jason had gone to the store for a few things, and my mom, who is visiting and helping for the whole weekend, was keeping me company in the nursery. I was getting frustrated that Jason had been gone for so long–mostly because I knew he needed sleep, too, and I didn’t want him to miss out on the upcoming and precious hours. We heard the car pull in and the back door open. Mom called down the stairs to see if J needed help with the groceries, and a minute later, this was the scene in the nursery:
My sister had arrived from Denver to meet her teeny, tiny nephew! Jason hadn’t been at the store at all, but was making an airport run to pick her up–how neat is that?! 🙂 Between them, Jason, Bridget, Mom, and Teddy managed to set up the incredible surprise, and until Bridget stepped into the nursery, I had absolutely no idea that she was coming to town. It was such a great moment! All along, I’ve thought that Henry wouldn’t meet his Aunt B until she and Teddy got married in Colorado this summer. It wouldn’t have been the worst thing in the world, of course, but it was hard to think about her missing Henry at this early stage. He is growing and changing so fast, and I didn’t want either of them to miss out.
Naturally, today has been a great day of sharing Henry and enjoying watching the two of them together. It’s very apparent that Henry already loves his Auntie B, and there’s no doubt that this is the beginning of a BEAUTIFUL relationship 🙂
I love happy surprises, and this was certainly the best one in a long time. It’s no small thing for all of us to be together under one roof, and I am soaking up every minute.
