“But I’m not so sure about the drums, Mommy.”
So says Henry after his very first parade today. He witnessed the entire event from inside a little black cocoon, safe in his mommy’s arms. “It’s really the best seat in the house if you ask me,” Henry reflects. “Truly the coziest spot for a newborn, especially when the bands go by.”
Henry was one of thousands who lined the streets at today’s event–the culmination of a week of flowers and festivities for the whole community. “There’s nothing like it. It’s a strange little phenomenon, all of these tulips and the pomp and circumstance that goes with them. I really haven’t been around long enough to truly appreciate the tradition,” says the three week old.
“Maybe next year I’ll get a little more into things. Heck, I might even dress up!”
When interviewed, Henry was visibly exhausted from the days activities. “If it’s OK with everyone, I think I’ll just have myself a little nap at this point,” he remarked as he politely bowed out of the conversation. “I’m all about the tulips and everything, but these two eyes could really use a rest.”
So there you have it. Henry’s first parade experience, topped off with an afternoon snooze. Typical weekend fare for a three week old, no?
