Wow, there’s been a lot going on around here today! It feels like we’ve just taken a gigantic diving leap into the to do list of “things to take care of before baby gets here,” and I can suddenly start to see it all taking shape. Even if we didn’t do another thing this weekend, I’d feel like we’ve made a ton of progress!
We held a garage sale this morning, and admittedly, I was quite hopeful about clearing out some things and making lots of room in the house. I feel like we were able to do that, but not really because the sale itself was a huge success. I have a large pile of items to Craigslist this week, and having it all out of our living space gives me good motivation to get things posted. I took lots of pictures while things were out on the driveway, and I’m super ready to have a productive selling week. Only time will tell, I suppose!
In the midst of the garage sale, there was also a lot of room rearranging, bed moving, and crib unveiling to take place. Jason handled that side of things while I looked after the munchkin and our busy driveway. By the time 3pm rolled around, our bed was in its new place, the crib had found a home, and baby’s dresser followed suit. It’s only a matter of days or weeks now before I peek into that room and see the final space where wee one #2 will reside.
My biggest reservation in all of this shuffling has been the adjustment that H would feel as things changed aesthetically around here. Tonight when I came upstairs and walked into the new nursery, Henry said to me excitedly, “That’s the baby’s room, Mommy!” Turns out he and daddy had had a talk about how baby was going to hang out upstairs with Henry, and how they’d be buddies and such. At least at the moment, and with that in mind, little man doesn’t seem to be bothered a bit. I’m so thankful!
In the days ahead, even more will shift and change around here–as things do when life brings someone or something new along. It’s feeling a little less daunting and more like a joy with every progressive step, which is really what this season should be about anyway. It’s as if the adjustments are all part of the celebration…the prep for the welcome home party we’ll get to throw in a matter of weeks, for the dear little one we already love so much. I can’t wait to rock the Button in the nursery with things in place. It’s going to be such a lovely season!
